An 81 year old former Guardia Civil officer has been detained in connection with the violent death on Saturday of his 80 year old wife.
The woman was found in a pool of blood at her home in Calle Arce in Zafra, Badajoz. Her husband, who apparently suffered injuries during the incident, is now under observation in hospital in Zafra although his wounds are not life-threatening.
Initial indications are that a shooting occurred at the house and it is another case of domestic violence.
