Chipiona is facing a third day of strikes by the rubbish collection service as the Council cannot pay the concessionaire and, in turn, the concessionaire cannot pay the outstanding wages of its employees.
The rubbish collection service costs the Council €4 million per year and they have built up a debt with the concessionaire of €18 million, most of it inherited from the previous administration.
The Council wants to negotiate a new deal with the concessionaire and formulate a plan to discharge their debt. Meanwhile, the workers have declared an indefinite strike.
