The first batch of sub-Saharans to arrive off the Granada coast this year have been successfully intercepted, the 46 passengers, including 4 women, now safely in the hands of the authorities in Motril.
The small boat was spotted on Saturday afternoon by a Navy patrol boat near the isla de Alborán and a Marine Rescue vessel was sent to escort the passengers to dry land. All were in good health although one was suffering a mild case of hypothermia.
