Around 21.7 million tourists visited Andalucia during 2011, an increase of 2.3% over the previous year.
Of the total number of tourists, 32.6% were from Andalucia, 28.5% from the rest of Spain, 25.6% came from the European Union and the remaining 12.3% came from other countries.
The vast majority, 85.7%, were in Andalucia on vacation, while the rest visited family and friends or claimed other motivations for their visit.
The vast majority of travellers, 75.1%, stayed in hotels, while the rest used apartments, flats or houses. The average stay was 8.5 days.
The average expenditure by tourists is estimated at 61.63 euros, ranging from 54.72 euros spent by Andalucians and 75.39 euros by those from the rest of the world.
