The Department of Health yhas reported that the deaths of three British nationals aged between 73 years and 78 years were due to pneumonia associated with legionella and are related to the outbreak in Calpe, Alicante.
Fourteen people, ten British and four Spanish, are currently affected by the legionella outbreak in Calpe.
Those affected are all confined to a hotel in the area and measures are being taken to disinfect and clean of all hotel facilities and water conducting systems according to established protocols and regulations in force.
The hotel was found to be in strict compliance with regulations relating to facilities and initial tests carried out at the establishment proved negative. Further tests, however, have led to positive results.
