The Junta de Andalucia is today expected to approve changes to the rules governing official language schools in Andalucia, giving them more autonomy.
There are 51 official language schools with 68,000 students, with ten languages being taught as well as Spanish courses for foreigners.
The idea is to give the schools more autonomy, simplify the administrative tasks, enhance the faculty and enhance the participation of families and students in school life. The directors of the schools will be given the power to set up management teams and to replace staff who leave.
