Around thirty people had to be evacuated from their homes in Tarifa in the early hours of Monday morning after fire broke out on the second floor, an electrical fault thought to be the cause of the blaze.
One man suffered burns after he escorted a girl out of the affected apartment and then tried, unsuccessfully, to extinguish the fire. He was taken to the Hospital Puerto in Algeciras where he was treated for burbs to his hands and face.
By the time the Fire Brigade arrived, most people had already left their homes. The remaining occupants, mainly on the third floor, were subsequently evacuated and the fire was extinguished.
