Three people were injured in the El Bajondillo district of Alhaurín el Grande in the early hours of Sunday morning, a man who was stabbed while in his home, the alleged perpetrator who was cornered by an angry mob and a police officer who tried to prevent a lynching.
It all began when a 47 year old Spanish man was in his home and, for reasons as yet unknown, was attacked and stabbed in the abdomen by a man wearing a hoodie and a balaclava.
The alleged perpetrator was caught by local residents and when the police arrived on the scene, he was bloodied and surrounded by a group of around 30 individuals. The crowd hurled objects at the police officers as they attempted to protect the alleged perpetrator and one suffered an injury to the hand.
The man who was stabbed is in a critical condition in the Hospital Clínico Universitario. The alleged attacker is under observation in the Hospital Carlos Haya and is suffering from head injuries. The policeman was treated in hospital for a minor injury to his left hand.
The alleged attacker has been arrested and is in custody in hospital. The knife used in the attack, as well as a balaclava and glove, were found at the scene and the Guardia Civil is now carrying out a full investigation into the incident.
