Guardia Civil officers in Algeciras have seized a shipment of 8.5 tons of hashish being transported from Tangier by lorry, the drugs hidden between pallets of tomatoes and peppers.
Officers carried out a control on a lorry from Tangier, destination of France, with a declared cargo of tomatoes and peppers. A routine inspection found that 16 of the 28 pallets on the lorry contained hashish. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.
This is the largest haul of hashish in Algeciras for the past four years.
