After an investigation lasting more than a year, National Police have arrested eleven people and dismantled two groups engaged in the sexual exploitation of women, mostly Rumanian.
One group arranged for women to be brought to Spain from Rumania and then withheld their documents until they repaid, through prostitution, their alleged ‘debts’ to the organisation.
A second group was involved in the falsification of documents for the purpose of arranging marriages of convenience between some of the same women and foreign nationals, mostly from Nigeria.
Raids were carried out on properties in La Herradura (Granada) and Benalmadena (Málaga), during which various documents were seized along with counterfeiting machinery and counterfeit euro notes. Amongst the fake notes were some of €5, the first time fake notes of this denomination have been discovered in Spain.
The detainees are Rumanian and Nigerian nationals and include the head of the organisation.
