Apparently as a result of requests by local residents, the Council has begun removing the ornamental marble cubes in Plaza Cavana. It would appear that people had the habit of falling over them.
The cubes will be replaced with more normal bollards such as those found in calle Pintada. The cubes will be used as decoration in other parts of the town.
They were quite popular as seats.
Ian says:
Shame. I thought they were quite decorative, but often wondered if they would ever have passed the health and safety ‘laws’ back home.
Lynne Hanson says:
In Buxton, Derbyshire, near where I used to live, there were many stone structures (locally called ‘monoliths’) placed on the High Street. People didn’t fall over them – they sat on them! No Health and Safety issues at all – they are too big to fall over!!
John says:
So people are just going to fall over them in ‘other parts of the town’?!
Angela B says:
I have just come back from Nerja and enjoyed our daily seat cube, watching people passing by. I thought they added charm.
GRAHAM says:
when there are crowds the cubes cannot be seen
