Iberia Express, the new low-cost airline and cause of numerous strikes recently, is scheduled to begin service on Sunday with flights to Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Málaga and Sevilla.
Iberia Express will initially be using four Airbus A320s with another nine joining the fleet later in the year as more routes are added.
In May, the company will start flights from Madrid to Vigo, Lanzarote, Granada, Menorca and Ibiza, and in June and July will begin flying to Europe, destinations including Dublín, Riga, Naples and Mikonos. Also in June, more domestic flights will be added, these being to Santiago de Compostela, Fuerteventura and La Palma.
September will see the start of flights to Amsterdam.
