The worker’s council and the management of Lipasam, the municipal cleaning service in Sevilla, are meeting to try and avoid the strikes planned for Easter Wednesday to Easter Saturday.
The strike action still has to be ratified by the Lipasam workforce but if no agreement is reached then a strike is almost certain.
The worker’s council object to changes made to the collective agreement by Lipasam in order to adapt them to the new labour reforms. These changes include increasing the working week to 37.5 hours, amending shift rotation, and the hiring of contract labour during periods of unpaid leave or other absences.
According to the Council, the changes are designed to improve, stabilise and protect the public nature of the company and cannot understand the need to strike. The worker’s council see the changes as a reduction in rights.
