Work has started to replace the guard railings at the bottom of Plaza Fabrica de los Cangrejos near Torrecilla beach, the railings having deteriorated since their installation in 2000 by the Department of Coasts.
The material used for the railings was not the most suitable for close proximity to the sea and parts have rusted quite considerably. The replacement railings will be stainless steel.
The work is starting at the Torrecilla beach end which is the most badly affected and the first phase will see the replacement of about 200 metres of railing. The cost of the project is €50,000.
