This weekend saw the closure of one of the most emblematic hotels in Spain, the Hotel Incosol in Marbella.
The hotel was founded by Cristóbal Martínez Bordiu and was inaugurated by general Franco in 1973. It was a combination of luxury hotel and first rate clinic and boasted such well-known clients as Prince Rainier of Monaco and Grace Kelly, Christina Onassis, Audrey Herpburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson, Salvador Dali, Cela and even Osama Bin Laden.
The hotel, owned by the Jale group, went into receivership in 2008, and everyone, clients and staff, was hoping that a buyer would be found. The head of the Jale group has criticised the action of the receivers in closing the hotel, describing it as ‘arbitrary, unnecessary and harmful’.
