Two penalties from Messi and a goal by Iniesta saw Barcelona through to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Milan started brightly but Barcelona soon assumed control, although scoring proved difficult and it was only after a penalty was awarded, the first of two, that Barcelona took the lead.
Milan then equalised with a fine goal from Nocerino and suddenly the Italians were looking good with the away goal. Messi then converted the second penalty of the match and Iniesta added the third to send the Catalans on their way to the semis.
Messi now has 58 goals for the season in all competitions, 14 in the Champions League this year and continues to set records. His work rate is phenominal.
Barcelona are into the Champions League semi-finals for the fifth year running and have equalled Real Madrid’s record that ran from 1956 to 1961. Barca have also now won 28 matches in the Champions League knock-out phase, breaking the record they shared with Manchester United.
In the other match, Bayern Munich beat Marseille 2-0, 4-0 on aggregate, without really breaking into a sweat and must be a team to be feared in the semis. Ivica Olic scored both goals for Bayern.
