The May Feria in Ronda (Real Feria de Mayo) will this year be without the traditional sampling of local agricultural produce, the cutback being part of Ronda’s plan to pay over €11 million in outstanding debts to suppliers.
The Feria runs from May 18th to May 22nd and the budget has been reduced from the €140,000 in 2011 to just €30,000 for 2012. The overall budget for festivities during 2012 has been reduced to €400,000. In 2011 the budget was €850,000.
The Feria will, however, see an expansion of the Royal Livestock Show with a dressage competition and an exhibition by the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda (RMCR) – the Royal Military Cavalry.
