The Málaga Public Prosecutor has opened a preliminary criminal investigation into possible forgery during the selection process to recruit four new Local Police officers.
In October 2011, the Council received notification from the tribunal about possible irregularities in the correction of various test papers and the Mayor ordered the immediate suspension of the selection process by decree on October 3rd.
The Mayor also hired a handwriting expert to ascertain whether there were any alterations to answers given by candidates. The findings and a report were then sent to the Public Prosecutor for him to determine whether any further action was necessary.
In March, a group of around 30 of the 200 candidates involved in the process denounced the suspension and now a criminal investigation has begun. All the documentation has now been passed to the Torrox Court.
