It is a Chelsea – Bayern Munich final in the Champions League after the German side beat Real Madrid in a penalty shoot-out at the Bernabeu stadium.
Real, trailing 1-2 after the first leg, were off to a good start with two goals from Ronaldo, one from the penalty spot, within the first quarter of an hour. Another penalty decision, this time in favour of Bayern, after 27 minutes was duly converted by Arjen Robben. And that was the end of the goals.
Despite the lack of any more goals, it was an entertaining game between two evenly matched teams, both creating chances here and there but unable to make them count.
The ninety minutes ended, and then so did the extra time and it was down to penalties.
Bayern goalkeeper Neuer saved the first two Real penalties, taken by Ronaldo and Kaká, while Alaba and Gomez both scored for the Germans.
Casillas then made two saves, stopping Kroos and Lahm from scoring, while Alsonso found the net for Real. Sergio Garcia then hit his attempt way over the bar into the crowd while Bastian Schweinsteiger didn’t and Bayern were into the final.
A good, entertaining game, but nail-biting stuff for fans of both teams. And their managers.
Has Özil been training in the pool with Busquets, Alves and Marcelo?
