Four members of a criminal gang have been arrested in Cártama for the alleged crimes of illegal detention and robbery with violence or intimidation.
The police investigation began at the end of March following an attempted robbery in Fuengirola.
The four people, three Spanish and one Moroccan, targeted an employer because they believed he kept a large amount of cash at home. The idea was to detain him at his office, force him to give them the keys to his home and then go and rob the place.
However, the victim resisted and the plan failed. The gang even left behind one of their weapons which turned out to be an imitation gun.
The gang were eventually traced and arrested and are also suspected of having been involved in another robbery in Cártama in which they got away with jewellery and cash.
