Two local organisations are trying to find permanent accommodation for thirty immigrants whose ‘settlement’ near Lepe was destroyed by fire on Sunday night.
The settlement, mostly constructed of cardboard and plastic, was destroyed within a few minutes. Some of the immigrants managed to grab a few belongings but many lost everything in the blaze, including their documentation.
Temporary accommodation was found for the immigrants, the local ONGs using their own facilities, such as a soup kitchen, to provide shelter.
