The price of tickets for AVE high-speed and Long Distance trains is set to go up by an average of 2.75%, although REFFE have not yet announced when this will take effect.
Some services will increase by a maximum of 3%. The increases are above the rate of inflation and follow the increases (10.9%) applied to the Local Train Service (Cercanias) and Middle Distance Trains in May.
Prices for the Local and Middle Distance services are a government decision, AVE and Long Distance are the responsibility of the operator, RENFE.
AVE and Long Distance services transported 22.83 million passengers in 2011, up 2.9% on 2010 and the first increase in numbers since 2008.
