The Junta de Andalucia has presented plans for savings which include budget reductions, reduced salaries for civil servants and increased taxes.
The Junta plans to reduce the budget by 12%, saving in the region of €3,500 million, with the main items being:
- Increase in working hours of public employees from 35 to 37.5 hours per week.
- 5% salary reduction for senior civil servants.
- Trimming of June and December ‘extra pay’ and supplementary benefits.
- 50% reduction of official vehicles, advertising and conference budgets.
- Centralised purchasing in the health sector.
- Modification of regional income tax (increase).
- Increase in Wealth Tax, retail Sales Tax of certain hydrocarbons, Stamp Duty and Gambling Tax.
