The Córdoba May Feria officially starts at midnight tonight, although the marquees are being allowed to open as from midday.
In keeping with the financial crisis gripping Spain, there are less lights, a smaller entrance and an overall budget cut of 18% to €124,000. There are, however, twenty-three more marquees than in 2011. The marquees remain ‘open’ to the general public although restricted access may be applied at certain times or for certain events.
The traditional firework display at midnight will officially open the Feria and it will continue until Sunday May 27th.
The fairground attractions, around one hundred of them, should deliver as much as one million euros to the municipal coffers through licences and other taxes.
Parking in the area has been increased, but drivers should note that there will be an increase in alcohol controls during the feria period. Don’t drink and drive.
