Rafael Nadal beat world number one Novak Djokovic in straight sets, 7-5 6-3, to win a record sixth Italian Open title and in doing so, returned to number two in the world rankings. The final, which had been delayed by a day because of rain in Rome on Sunday, saw Rafael Nadal win his 21st Masters title to put him ahead of Roger Federer who has won 20.
