The working environment within the Local Police force in Torrox has not been a happy one for several years now, with claims and counter claims, disciplinary proceedings and complaints being made on a regular basis.
The latest complaint, made by the UPLB-A (Union of Police and Firemen in Andalucia), alleges the crimes of forgery and embezzlement of public funds by an officer in the force.
The case relates to a towing incident during the Migas Festival in Torrox back in December. A derelict vehicle was towed away and, according to the complaint, the officers involved carried out the procedure according to the regulations, issuing a denuncia so that the vehicle could be returned to the owner.
The owner is then liable to pay at least the towing charge. However, the UPLB-A alleges that an officer was then able to falsify documents relating to the incident with a view to either returning the vehicle to its owner without the towing fees being paid or pocketing the fees for himself.
