A group of professional flamenco artists and journalists are set to launch a new, free bimonthly flamenco magazine called ‘La Fragua’, with the first issue due to be published on June 20th.
The magazine hails from Isla de Camarón, namely the municipality of San Fernando in Cádiz province, and the main focus is the artistic legacy of Camarón de la Isla (real name José Monge Cruz), considered by many to be the best flamenco singer of all time.
The first issue coincides with the twentieth anniversary of the disappearance of Camarón. Also in the first issue will be a piece about the legendary Venta de Vargas in San Fernando, the place where many flamenco artists, including Camarón, began their careers.
there will also be an interview with Miguel Poveda about his new album as well as general news items about flamenco.
The magazine will be distributed nationwide with, initially, 10,000 copies being printed. Copies are expected to be available in the tourist areas of Andalucia.
