At around 07:45 on Thursday morning, a Council vehicle was transporting bees along a bumpy and potholed road near Villaverde del Río, Sevilla, when the bees were presented with an opportunity to escape, which they duly took.
The swarm then proceeded to sting people in the area, mostly pedestrians walking near the elementary school.
Six of those stung required treatment at the Health Centre and one was then transferred to hospital. The situation in the area returned to normal at around 09:30.
