National Police officers have arrested three Algerian nationals for allegedly organising and manning a boat trip from Algeria with 23 illegal immigrants on board, each having paid around €500 for the privilege.
The boat, with 20 men, one woman and 2 children on board, was intercepted in May about thirty miles off Carboneras, Almeria province.
During the investigation, police discovered that one of the detainees already had a search and detain warrant issued against him by a court in Valencia. All three have been charged with crimes against the rights of foreign citizens and remanded in prison.
