Monday was day one without the tram service in Vélez-Mâlaga and there appears to have been a fair amount of confusion amongst passengers, with complaints about a lack of schedules being posted at bus stops, long waits and a lack of shelter from the sun at the stops.
Some passengers complained of waits of up to 40 minutes during peak hours – trams were theoretically every 20 minutes during peak times – as well as a general lack of information about schedules.
The new bus service consists of three lines between Vélez-Mâlaga and Torre del Mar and one between Caleta de Vélez and Almayete as well as expanding coverage to include, for the first times, areas such as El Limonar.
In reality, the number of trips between Vélez-Mâlaga and Torre del Mar from Monday to Friday has been reduced from 64 to 47 per day.
According to the Mayor, the service is not finalised and is open to possible tweaking according to demand.
