On Saturday June 9th, the Brotherhood of the Virgen del Carmen will present a cake being specially made to celebrate the Fiesta of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of seamen.
The idea came from the cakes known as the ‘tortas de san juan’ – St John’s cake – which will begin to be consumed in numerous household during the next few days, and the Brotherhood decided it would be good to have their own cake for the Fiesta of the Virgen dl Carmen.
The Brotherhood got in touch with the Costa del Sol bakery and they are now in charge of developing it for distribution.
The cake will be presented on Saturday and it will be two metres high and one metre wide and all those present can enjoy a slice accompanied by a glass of chocolate. The presentation is in the Sala del Mercado in Plaza de la Ermita and starts at 5pm.
