With the first set of matches completed in Euro 2012, this is my view, for what little it is worth, on things so far.
Most impressive: Italy (but they need to keep Balotelli in check) and Denmark, although whether Denmark can maintain a challenge over the whole tournament is a matter for debate.
Most disappointing: Holland and Portugal. Ronaldo continues to disappoint on the international stage in contrast to his domestic contribution, perhaps because international duty requires more teamwork rather than individual, or more selfish, displays.
Solid: Germany (as one would expect), France, Russia, England (but need to work on first touch and passing).
General: Far too much over-reaction, play-acting and feigning serious injury when there was little or no physical contact, prevalent throughout the game these days, but the referees do at least seem to be a bit more ‘aware’ this time and not falling for most of them.
