The Council has approved a motion to rescind the 2006 agreement on extended ‘summer hours’ between June 15th and June 30th and between September 1st and September 15th which allowed Council officials to finish work one hour earlier in the day, at 2pm instead of 3pm.
The arrangement was originally made because most offices were not air conditioned and this made working ‘unbearable’ for officials. However, in view of the current economic situation and the fact taht nearly all offices have air conditioning, the decision has been taken to rescind the agreement.
The ‘summer hours’ are, however, being maintained for the months of July and August as they are included in the Collective Agreement.
