National Police officers in Marbella have arrested the 80 year old husband of Ana MAA, the woman whose body was found at her home on Wednesday.
It was initially thought that 73 year old Ana MAA died as a result of a fire at her home but an autopsy revealed that she had received several stab wounds prior to the blaze.
The husband had told police that he had returned home after running some errands and noticed smoke in the house. He was rescued from the smoke-filled building by neighbours.
The body of Ana MAA was found in her bed. An autopsy revealed the existence of the stab wounds and forensic experts also discovered fire accelerants in the bedroom, leading to the conclusion that foul play was involved.
