Since last March a total of twenty-two mainly local companies have signed up for the Programme for Professional Experience, an initiative designed to provide paid work experience for unemployed in the municipality who have had trouble getting a job.
The programme has a duration of two months with four hours a day spent in the office and one hour on a training course.
The programme began in October with 14 companies signing up and now, with the extra 22, a total of 36 companies are participating.
Seven people have so far benefited from the scheme and another seventeen could do so during the rest of the year. Some of those involved in the programme have already been taken on by the company after completing the exercise.
