Another sub-par and unconvincing performance from the reigning European and World champions but they are through to the next stage of Euro 2012 after a late goal by substitute Jesús Navas.
Casillas once again spared the champion’s blushes, just as he did against Italy, pulling off some fine saves. Spain enjoyed the majority of the possession but seemed content to play for a draw, a dangerous game, until the last ten minutes of the match.
Torres was quite ineffective and was substituted after an hour, Jesús Navas replacing him. Silva and Arbeola had a great game for the champions and once again Luka Modric was outstanding for Croatia.
In the 88th minute, Navas latched on to an Iniesta pass and slotted the ball home for the only goal of the match and Spain were definitely through and Croatia were out.
