A win is a win and Spain are through to the semi-finañls of Euro 2012, just unfortunate from a spectator point of view that France didn’t really turn up, star players Ribery and Benzema conspicuous by their mental absence.
Spain enjoyed the majority of possession, as they tend to do, but never really looked threatening in front of goal, but they had the advantage of an uninspired performance by France.
Xavi Alonso scored both goals in the 2-0 win, one from the penalty spot, in his 100th match for Spain, but it was a poor game to watch, little real action except for a couple of good ‘performances’ from Fabregas (taking lessons from Busquets?) and Pedro.
Next stop Portugal, also not playing particularly well but winning nevertheless. On performance so far, Germany are in a league of their own, but that means very little in a knockout competition.
