The IU in Torrox has rejected a proposal made by the PP to form a pact and share the position of Mayor, eighteen months for the PP and eighteen months for the IU, in a bid to oust the current minority government of Francisco Muñoz (PSOE).
Although the IU rejected a pact, a spokesman for the IU stated: ‘While we agree that the situation with the City Council cannot continue, with a despotic, arrogant and proud mayor who is ruling by decree and without consensus on the issues and practicing a policy of string-pulling and cronyism, the election results were what they were and the possibilities are what they are.’
