Two small boats were intercepted off the coast of Almeria on Thursday and the fifty passengers are now enjoying the hospitality of the National Police.
The first boat was spotted by a reconnaissance plane about 50 miles east of Cabo de Gata and the Marine Rescue vessel ‘Salvamar Algenib’ was sent to greet them.
The second boat was located about 30 miles southeast of Cabo de Gata and the occupants were transported to Almeria port on board a Guaria Civil patrol boat. The immigrants were all of North African origin.
