Goals from Silva, Jordi Alba, Torres and Mata gave Spain a 4-0 victory over Italy as they set a new record by winning back to back Euro titles with the World Cup sandwiched in between.
Spain were much improved from the earlier rounds, still dominating passing but also going forward at the same time and creating chances. And the chances were put away this time.
Italy spent much of the second half with only ten men after the third substitute Thiago Motta sustained an injury and couldn’t continue. At that time it was 2-0, but after the loss of Motta the Italians were forced to defend more and chase the ball as the Spanish passed it here, there and everywhere.
What next, an Olympic title to add to the collection?
