Ronda Council has initially approved its new PGOU, seven years late, with the approval of the governing PP and PA, the IU-LV-CA voting against and the Socialists abstaining.
The opposition complained about a lack of participation in drawing up the Plan by all political parties, with or without local representation, and various local groups in general. The Councillor for Urban Planning, Daniel Harillo (PA), responded by saying that the process had been governed by complete transparency and as a result the document would be on public display for three months instead of the usual one month.
Items of conflict in the new PGOU include plans for a visitor reception centre at the side of the castle, changes to the residencial area of Albercón and plans to move the industrial area.
