At around 22:00 on November 8th 1979, a woman from Rincón de la Victoria gave birth to a baby at the Carlos Haya hospital in Málaga. At around 03:30, the mother and her husband were informed that the baby had died.
According to the parents, the hospital took care of proceedings and the baby was buried in the cemetery in Rincón de la Victoria.
In May last year, the couple became one of the first to suggest that their baby had in fact been stolen. An exhumation was ordered and the remains were sent to Madrid for DNA testing.
The results of the DNA test, the first to be carried under a court order in Málaga province, show that the remains biologically match those of the parents and therefore this is not a case of a ‘stolen baby’.
In light of the results, the prosecutor is requesting the closure of this particular case.
Three other exhumations have taken place in the province and the results of DNA tests on two sets of remains are currently pending. The third grave, in Monda, was empty.
