The Málaga provincial Council is sending trucks of water to Valle de Abdalajís where many residents remain without running water to their homes. Several residents have locked themselves in the Town Hall as a protest and five have started a hunger strike.
The Council is anlaysing ways to meet the demands of residents who want running water to their homes and one measure being considered is supply by the water company Agua de los Verdiales, a public company formed by several municipalities in the area. Supply problems also exist in Colmenar and Casabermeja.
However, Agua de los Verdiales is currently in the throes of bankruptcy with debts of over €4 million.
