A strike by garbage collectors has begun in Cádiz in protest at not having received the wage increase expected this year under the collective agreement.
The concessionaire, Soufi Cointer, says it has no money and is even threatening lay-offs (ERE). Soufi Cointer employs around 300 workers.
The strike will affect the Gran Regata celebrations. The mayor of Cádiz, Teófila Martínez, is asking people not to put their rubbish out on the streets as it is bad for the image of the town.
