The search continues for 63 year old Gordon Simm, an experienced mountaineer and hiker, who failed to return home after setting out for a trek along the rio Chillar on Saturday.
Gordon Simm and his wife Wendy have been coming on holiday to Nerja for the past seven years. Gordon set out on Saturday, saying he would he would be back by noon on Sunday. An experienced walker who, according to his wife, knew the routes and trails in the hills, set off in a taxi for the Nerja Caves and from there he went by mountain bike to the river.
As he apparently always did, Mr Simm took a day and a half’s supply of food, with lots of bread, fruit and cereal, and a small amount of water, intending to fill his bottle from the river.
He was apparently aiming to go to the Cortijo del Imán and then on to La Cadena.
Search teams, with aerial support, have so far failed to locate Mr Simm despite covering a wide area of the upper reaches of the rio Chillar as far as the border with Granada.
Meanwhile, Mrs Simm waits anxiously for news of her husband hoping, as we all do, that he is found safe and well.
