Pressure from the citizens of Cádiz and the media, described by the union representative as ‘brutal’, has moved the workers at the cleaning concessionaire to call off their indefinite strike after five days.
The workers are returning to their duties today, Saturday. Around 500 tons of rubbish has accumulated on the streets of Cádiz, coinciding with the start of the Gran Regatta in the city.
The workers say they have lost the battle but not the war, having failed to achieve fulfillment of their wage claims contained in the collective agreement and having failed to gain the support of the local population.
