As from today, Sunday, the cost of driving on toll motorways will be 7.5% more expensive after the Central Government decided to withdraw subsidies to the concessionaires. In September, the price will rise by another 3% due to the increase in IVA (VAT).
The Government left it up to the concessionaires as to whether they implement price increases as a consequence of the loss of subsidies. The AP-4 between Sevilla and Cádiz is already 7.5% more expensive.
The subsidies were worth around €20 million per year to the concessionaires, although the Government has not yet paid the amount due for 2011.
