A total of six people have been arrested and 3,200 kilos of hashish seized in police operations against drug smuggling from North Africa to Spain. Two boats were also seized.
Five people in various provinces in Andalucia were arrested after a boat carrying 2,200 of hashish was intercepted off the coast of Cádiz.
Another boat, the pleasure craft ‘Arabian Moonshine’, was intercepted and found to have 1,038 kilos of drugs on board. The drugs had been transferred to the pleasure craft from a speed boat and were destined, it is believed, for Estepona. A 75 year old British national, initials EM, was arrested and is being held in custody on charges of crimes against the public health. The speed boat managed to elude capture.
