A 35 year old Rumanian woman was seriously injured yesterday as the result of a fall from the third floor of an apartment block in the Nueva Andalucia district of Marbella. The incident is thought to be yet another case of domestic violence.
At around 14:00 on Monday, witnesses reported hearing a ‘heated discussion’ between the woman and her partner followed by a loud crash as she hit the ground three floors below.
The partner, a 43 year old man of Arab origin, reportedly came out on the balcony to ask how she was before making his way downstairs and trying to lift the woman off the ground. Neighbours prevented him from lifting the woman as they waited for the arrival of an ambulance.
Once being treated by medical staff, the woman was reported to have removed her oxygen mask and said that she had not fallen but had been pushed. Police officers immediately arrested the partner and charged him with the alleged crime of attempted murder.
The woman was taken to the Hospital Costa del Sol and later transferred to the Carlos Haya Hospital in Málaga. Her condition is said to be ‘critical’.
National Police are now investigating the incident to determine whether it is a case of domestic violence.
