Sales of new cars in July, normally a month of high sales along with June, were down by 17.2% compared to last year and is the worst July on record.
Lack of consumer confidence, unemployment, lack of funding and reducing the purchasing power of families are still the main factors affecting the car market and with a VAT hike in September, things are not expected to improve.
A total of 65,322 vehicles were registered in July and 471,393 for the year to date, down 9.5% on 2011.
